Gene
A tiny instruction card inside every cell that tells your body how to grow.

Trait
A characteristic your genes build — like eye color, hair, or how tall you are.
Eye color = a trait🔤
Allele
Different versions of the same gene. We write them as letters, like B or b.
B = brown, b = blue💪
Dominant
The bossy allele! It shows up even with just one copy. Written as a CAPITAL letter.
Bb → brown eyes!🙈
Recessive
The shy allele! It only shows up when it has two copies. Written lowercase.

Genotype
The exact combination of alleles (letters) hidden inside you.

Phenotype
What we can actually see — the trait that shows up on the outside.

Homozygous
Two of the same alleles. "Homo" means same!

Heterozygous
Two different alleles. "Hetero" means different!
